Step 1 – Reaching Out

Reach out to the CCO that serves your Community

The CCO in your area has Enrollment Specialists who can help you navigate the eligibility, intake and enrollment process with New York State, even if you have not formally enrolled with the CCO yet.  To reach an Enrollment Specialist, contact the CCO that serves your community to set up an appointment to get started.  Click here for the name of the CCOs and the regions they serve.  To reach an Enrollment Specialist at one of the MyCompass partnership CCOs, follow the links below:

Go Through the “Front Door”

To get the services and support you need, first contact your local Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and go through what they call their “Front Door” process.  (Find the name and contact information for office serving your county by clicking here).  The Front Door is how you access services through OPWDD.  When you reach out to OPWDD, you will be asked to attend a Front Door Information Session, which provides information about OPWDD’s mission and purpose, outlines the eligibility process for supports and services, the types of supports and services available, and where to get assistance.

Registration for the Front Door Information Sessions is done locally through your Regional Office or voluntary agency provider.   A family member or advocate may attend to represent the individual in need of services.   A list of upcoming sessions can be found on OPWDD’s website by clicking here.
