At MyCompass the core of our mission is to “empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live healthy, engaged and fulfilling lives.” And we believe that knowledge is the key to empowerment.
With knowledge of the resources, supports and assistance available and an understanding of where and how to access them, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (and those who care for them) can chart the course to achieving and maintaining their best life.
The dilemma is that the road can be a very challenging one to navigate. While there are a lot of great programs and resources out there – public and private – and many wonderful people who deliver them, there are also lots of rules, polices, procedures and paperwork you’ll encounter along the way. It can be very confusing and frustrating.
Although we can’t necessarily remove all the road “hazards” or completely smooth the terrain, we can certainly give you a better map – one that can make your journey an easier and ultimately more successful one.
That’s exactly why we created The Knowledge Center – to cut through the clutter and provide you with valuable information that is not only relevant and accurate, but also simple, clear and easy to understand, without all the acronyms and “insider” jargon (or at least with the acronyms and jargon explained!)
